Looking to build your CAD skills this semester?

CMS is running a 3-part SolidWorks workshop series designed to take you from the fundamentals through to real mechanical application — perfect for those doing Machine Design or wanting to strengthen practical design skills.

All workshops run from 6:00PM – 8:00PM.

🔹 Session 1 – Fundamentals of SolidWorks

📅 Monday 9th March
🕒 6:00PM – 8:00PM

Learn the foundations of SolidWorks including:

• Sketching properly

• Extrude / Revolve

• Fillet / Chamfer

• Basic part modelling principles

Perfect for beginners or anyone wanting to refresh core skills.

🔹 Session 2 – Gearbox Assembly (Intermediate)

🕒 6:00PM – 8:00PM

Build on your fundamentals by:

• Creating assemblies & mates

• Working through a gearbox example

• Understanding mechanical relationships

• Skills directly useful for Machine Design

🔹 Session 3 – Basics of FEA

Great for students currently doing FEA or preparing for it later in the semester.
